GOVERNOR SIGNS L.D. 673 - RESTORATION OF TIP CREDIT BILL!

What does this means for Maine restaurants and restaurants workers?
It means that tip credit will not go any higher than 50% of minimum wage.
It does not roll back the tipped wage - currently $5.00\hr, but next year, when the minimum wage goes up to $10\hr, the tip credit will be $5.00\hr (half of minimum wage) and the tipped wage will be $5.00. After that, tip credit will remain at 50% of whatever minimum wage is.

This is a huge victory for our industry. Many thanks to all the Restaurant Workers of Maine, whose grassroots efforts made all the difference, as well as to our Director of Governmental Affairs - Greg Dugal, who worked tirelessly to get this bill passed.
